    Sri Gurvastakam

I want to give an explanation of Sri Guru – what are the symptoms of a bona fide guru – and to show you examples that have been given in the epics [Vedic scriptures]. You can apply this to your own guru. Our Sri Guru is akhanda-guru-tattva, Sri Baladeva Prabhu or Sri Nityananda Prabhu, so all teachings should be applied to him and to others who are following this... Read More

  • Our Master - His Life

A most endearing hallmark of his preaching was the heart-stealing affection he showed to all. As an uttama-bhāgavata, he entered the deepest recesses of the heart to give the unmistakable reassurance that he is one's eternal well-wisher. The depth of his affection is a tangible reality for all who have experienced it, and this in itself bears subjective testimony to the fact that he was a true emissary of the Supreme Lord.

As long as Śrīla Gurudeva, the beloved of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, is physically manifest, it is wise to render intimate service to him, and thereby attain perfection. But if we are not able to attain perfection because we have failed to develop attachment to him, attachment wherein we consider him to be the lord of our heart; if we have failed to serve him by giving him our full heart in complete sincerity and selflessness, then we have certainly been deprived...

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is certainly more intelligent than each and every one of us, and He knows how to make the fallen souls of Kali-yuga best understand His high-level teachings. Featured: Madhurya-kadambini

Madhurya kadambini 200

In order to reveal to the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava society the intrinsic nature of pure devotion (śuddha-bhakti), the sequence of its appearance, bhakti’s self-manifesting nature and her unfathomable glories, he who is most worshipful and the best among the rasika Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava ācāryas, Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura, has composed this unparalleled, sacred volume entitled Mādhurya-kādambinī. Śrīla Cakravartī Ṭhākura is one of the prominent and effulgent pillars in the line of the śrī rūpānuga Vaiṣṇava ācāryas, or spiritual preceptors in the line of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī.

It is only by tasting the rasa of the ocean of His sweet pastimes that the topics described in this Mādhurya-kādambinī are realized. By regularly putting into practice, with devotion, the topics in this book, the sādhaka- bhakta can easily traverse the various obstacles to bhajana, such as aparādha and the desire for wealth, worship and prestige, and achieve prema. In this way, by relishing the mādhurya of Bhagavān, his life is forever blessed and fulfilled. Of this there is no doubt.

In Vrindavan, the devotees mainly stay in dharmasalas, (simple accommodation for pilgrims) near the Rupa Sanatana Matha in Seva Kunja, which is the heart of Vrindavan. There are a few hotels in this area. They are about a 15 minute rickshaw drive from Seva Kunja. Most hotels are near ISKCON. We have listed a few hotels for you to choose from.

During Kartika, if you would like to book a room in a home belonging to a local resident, or a room in a simple guest house near Gopinath Bhavan, then you can contact Mani-mati dasi at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for assistance.

During the Kartika festival we have arranged dharmasalas (simple lodgings for pilgrims) near Gopinath Bhavan and Sri Giridhari Gaudiya Math, where you can set up your sleeping mat and mosquito net in a room with other devotees. At the Math at Govardhan there is also facility for tents.

Sri Sri Rupa Sanatan Gaudiya Math

Our Sri Sri Rupa Sanatan Gaudiya Math is in Seva Kunja area, near Imli-tala. You can rent a simple room there outside Kartika season, have darsana of Sri Sri Radha Vinode Bihariji, and honor the delicious prasadam. You can also attend the temple programs, consisting of aratikas, lectures and kirtanas.

Tell the driver to go to the Parikrama Marg and to stop just before Imli-tala. From there you can take the back lane to the temple, which is only 2 minutes walk. The Seva Kunja area is monkey-central, and they love to steal spectacles, so it is best to remove your glasses before getting out of the car. Temple manager: BV Sridhara Maharaja or Jayadeva Maharaja  Tel: 0565-2443270.

Sri Gopinath Bhavan

Gopinath Bhavan is on the Parikrama Marg (road), which is next to Imli-tala. Gopinath Bhavan is large and beautifully carved out of red stone, so it is not easy to miss. From the entrance way one can see the beautiful altar and the deities, Sri Sri Radha-Gopinatha. You can attend the temple’s aratikas, lectures and kirtanas. Prasadam meals are available for a donation.
