Srila Sanatana Gosvami's Sri Brhad-bhagavatamrta occupies a special place in the realm of Vaisnava literature. It is unparalleled in its delineation of siddhanta, rasa, bhava and lila. Its glories are limitless, and it is without question one of the most beneficial books for the progressive sadhaka. It is divided into two parts, and both parts tell the story of parivrajaka; that is, one who refuses the comforts of a permanent residence and constantly wanders in search of the essence of life.

Sri Vraja-mandala parikrama, originally inaugurated by Sriman Mahaprabhu Himself, has been conducted for over fifty years under the supervision and guidance of Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja. This book is a beautiful exposition of the confidential places of Sri Krsna's sweet pastimes in Vraja. The sincere devotee who has a deep thirst to enter into the sweetness of the land of Vraja will find ambrosial nectar flowing through these pages.
"Blessed is the land of Vraja, where the creator of the universe, Lord Brahma, dwells in the form of a mountain range in Varsana, to have the dust of the Divine Couple Sri Sri Radha-Krsna's lotus feet on the head; where the maintainer, Lord Visnu, has assumed the forms of Govardhana and Visnu-parvata; where the moon-crested Lord Siva has taken up residence as Nandisvara Hill in Nandagrama; and where Sri Uddhava, the best of Hari's servants, lives as a blade of grass, a small shrub or a creeper on the bank of Kusuma-sarovara."

Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu is a book written by rasikacarya Srila Rupa Gosvami in an elaborate way about the science of devotional service, and by reading this book one can understand the meaning of devotional service. But to elaborately explain madhura-rasa, which is not dealt in great depth in Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, he wrote Sri Ujjvala-nilamani. It deals with every aspect of madhura-rasa. This book is the only definitive guide to madhura-rasa and ragamayi-bhakti.
Caution: This book will not be comprehensible unless one dives into the deep ocean of bhakti, i.e. Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. Only after attaining proficiency in Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu should one dare to search for this blue emerald, Ujjvala-nilmani, found deep within the ocean of bhakti, otherwise one may get lost. We should very carefully understand the exalted position of this book and also appreciate the qualification that are required for hearing it.
