In this book Srila Rupa Gosvami has given a brief yet vital description of the names, forms, qualities and different services of Sri Radha's and Sri Krsna's cherished companions. In the Brhad-bhaga, or first part, of this composition, he describes those in vatsalya-rasa and madhura-rasa, and in the Laghu-bhaga, or second part, he describes those in sakhya-rasa and dasya-rasa. Sometimes, especially in the second part, he depicts in detail the beautiful forms of Sri Radha and Sri Govinda, as well as Their bodily limbs, Their ornaments and the astonishing paraphernalia used by Them. After taking shelter of this desire tree of aspirations presented by Srila Visvanath Cakravati Thakura, that is to say, in order to attain the desire for the seva described in this compilations, one should sincerely, and without duplicity, with body, mind and words, remain under the guidance of the devoted persons who are completely immersed in this seva. These topmost, incomparable and transcendental aspirations can then quickly be fulfilled. Thus, the name of this book, Sri Sankalpa-kalpadrumah, is appropriate, because it makes one's desires bear fruit. The sadhaka's life attains success only when the impetus to obtain these trancendental aspirations appear in the heart by the causeless mercy of guru and Vaisnavas.

At the present time there is no Hindi edition of the Tenth Canto Srimad-Bhagavatam which is endowed with the wealth of the Gaudiya Vaisnava acaryas' commentaries. This edition is trying to make up for the lack of this. It contains the Tenth Canto's (1-8 chapters') main slokas, anvaya, translation of the slokas, Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura's commentary in Sanskrit and its bhavanuvada in Hindi, and the Bhavaprakasika vrtti, a commentary based on the tikas of Vaisnava acaryas such as Srila Jiva Gosvami and Srila Sanatana Gosvami.

Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu is a book written by rasikacarya Srila Rupa Gosvami in an elaborate way about the science of devotional service, and by reading this book one can understand the meaning of devotional service. But to elaborately explain madhura-rasa, which is not dealt in great depth in Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, he wrote Sri Ujjvala-nilamani. It deals with every aspect of madhura-rasa. This book is the only definitive guide to madhura-rasa and ragamayi-bhakti.

Caution: This book will not be comprehensible unless one dives into the deep ocean of bhakti, i.e. Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. Only after attaining proficiency in Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu should one dare to search for this blue emerald, Ujjvala-nilmani, found deep within the ocean of bhakti, otherwise one may get lost. We should very carefully understand the exalted position of this book and also appreciate the qualification that are required for hearing it.

Utkalika means 'very intense eagerness mixed with extreme restlessness,' and vallari means 'creeper;' hence Utkalika-vallari means 'The Vine of Intense Longings.' Srila Rupa Gosvami, being Sri Gaurahari's topmost associate, was saturated with His mercy. As the acarya of transcendental rasa-sastras, he wrote invaluable literatures, including the most exceptional Sri Stava-mala, 'A Garland of Prayers,' which was actually compiled later by Srila Jiva Gosvami. Utkalika-vallari, one of the flowers in this garland, is a poetic entreaty for the service of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna by Srila Rupa Gosvami.

Vaisnava-siddhanta-mala was originally composed in the Bengali language by the incarnation of auspiciousness upon this world, om visnupada Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, who is to be included as an intimate member among the eternal associates of Sri Sacinandana Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the purifier of the age of Kali and the source of all incarnations.
